Week 17 - Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!

happy holidays everyone!!

i hope you all had an awesome christmas and new year!! it was different, and pretty wild down here in Guatemala!!
so there is this family that we teach a lot, they are called the Rojas Family.  they are super awesome, they are just a little inactive so we are working hard to get them back to church.  the thing about this family is they have a dog, whos name is doggy hahah.  this dog loves us sooo freaking much and we have no idea why.  he follows us around all day and chases off all the other dogs that come at us haha. he is super awesome!!! makes me miss max a little bit.

this week we discovered a new way to contact.  so there is a basketball court in the main park of Estanzuela, and there are always dudes playing ball there and they think they are pretty good.  one time they told me that gringos cant ball, so on wednesday i decided to put that to the test.  we made a deal, if me and my companion beat them they had to read a pamphlet about the restoration, and if they beat us we would by them all a coke.  so we started playing, and they soon learned that gringos can ball haha.  we smacked those dudes 5-0, and they all read the restoration pamphlet.  i think we are gonna try that more often!!
so a couple of our baptismal fechas fell this week because they decided to drink (smh) so now we only have one set baptismal date which kinda sucks, but she is going to be baptized this Friday so thats awesome!! im super pumped to get her baptized.
this week i ate something pretty gnarly.  we were at our usual lunch appointment, and the lady that usually feeds us wouldnt tell us what she gave us.  so i ate it, and it was super nasty so i had to know what it was.  turns out it was COW UDDER.  i dont even know if thats how you spell it but it was super gross.  it was like gum it was so chewy. i dont recommend that for a usual lunch dish.
on friday we visited a family in the rama and  planned on sharing a lesson with them, but they were a little busy.  they told me they were gonna have a sacrifice, which i totally thought was a joke, til i saw this big ole piggy tied up on the ground!!! i was spooked. i wanted to watch it, but my companion is a chicken and didnt want to watch it so we had to leave.  i kinda felt bad for the pig, he was absolutley freaking out.  oh well, at least he tasted good.

new years eve was just like a normal night, all except for one thing.  when we were walking back to our house a group of kids thought it would be funny to shoot a firework at us!!! it hit my freaking backpack and it took all the self control i had to not show those dudes what was up haha.  people down here are quite crazy.
other than that, i dont have much to say.  this week was pretty nuts!! i know that the church is true and im super grateful to be a missionary of our Savior Jesus Christ.
