Week 79 - Catholics...

This week was a super good one for me and Elder German!! We worked hard as always.. not much changed there haha!! One thing i like about Elder German is that he likes to work!! so we wont have any problems there!!

This week we were able to put a baptismal date with my boy Walter Gil tho!! he finally realized that getting married is probably something that he should do with his "girlfriend" haha. it still blows my minds how people here have kids super fast without even thinking but they almost never want to get married. 

 

this week we ran into quite a few catholics.. thats why i have that glorious title haha! this wednesday was ash wednesday.. and before the mission i had no idea ash wednesday meant anything at all. but we were just walking in the street when we started to see a BUNCH of people with some weird black crosses on their foreheads!!! i had no clue what was happening.. i thought it was some spooky devil worship church that was coming to hunt down the missionaries!! i was fully ready to break into a full sprint away from them when my companion told me thats what the catholics do to start up the semana santa!! in english i believe that would be called the holy week. but that was extremely interesting.

 

then round two with the catholics was even better. so we were just walking in the street and some lady just yelled at us and told us she wanted us to pass by and visit her!! naturally we got super pumped cuz we thought maybe she would be interested in the message!! so we passed into the house and thats when we saw all the virgin marys and spooky catholic stuff. these people were convinced that they were gonna convert us to their apostate religion.. they just started talking about the Virgin Mary and a bunch of crazy stuff. i just did that mutombo finger wag in my mind and said NAHHH our church is true and we left em a Book of Mormon, and they left us with one of their weird catholic pamphlets that they have! interesting stuff. 

 

To change up the subject, today we played basketball as a zone!! it was great to play basketball, but it made me miss good basketball. for some reason basketball does not exist in latin america.. even though its the best sport this world has ever seen!!
