hello everyone!!
this week was a pretty interesting week for us. it was the holy week here, which is like the biggest vacation week of the year for all of the Guatemaltecos, but we did our best and we were actually able to have some success!!
this week we started teaching a new family.. la familia Gutierrez! they are a cool young family, and the husband, Emmanuel, isnt a member!! we were just walking in the street and his wife just called us over and told us she wanted us to visit them!! so we have taught them a couple times, and he has a tonn of questions about the Church and what we believe in. so that has us pretty excited!!
we have also kept teaching rudy and la familia vasquez, and we have seen some progress from them! rudy excepted a baptismal date for june, so we are gonna keep working hard with him so that he can be baptized! and we saw some awesome progress from the vasquez family... THEY CAME TO CHURCH. it was an Easter miracle.
this week we also did a different service this week!! there is a member in our ward who owns a car repair shop.. so we went and helped him work on a car!! i had the blessing of sanding down the car for 2 hours. my thumb was rubbed raw and it still kinda hurts, but i love service.
so in the semana santa the catholics go NUTSSS. they have these things called procesiones.. they are like big parades where they are carrying "floats" on their shoulders! its nuts. and the weird thing is that all the floats have life sized Jesus´ that are like super beat up and bloody and sad. its kinda weird but cool at the same time. they also make this super pretty things called alfombras in the street!! they are like giant carpets made out of chalk like stuff that are SUPERR pretty! i give the Catholics an A for effort, they are just a little confused with a lot of things.
i hope everyone had an awesome Easter this week! Im so thankful for Jesus Christ, His Atonement, and His Resurrection!! its pretty dang cool to be a representative of Him.
